In the midst of the Dorlay valley, where the textile business using the force of water was in full swing in the 19^th century, the Maison des Tresses et Lacets (House of Braids and Lace), formerly the Moulin-Pinte, welcomes visitors to the site of a former textile factory. After visiting the inside and being shown all the wood and braid looms (tubular, flat, etc.) by an enthusiastic guide, you will have the privilege of witnessing how the last overshot wheels in operation are started. It is quite impressive how the water gate opens, 1, 2, 3, 4 runnels fill and the simple force of the water drives the wheel which, in its day, powered 700 looms. An absolute must!
With a desire to improve promotion of this particular know-how, the association is in the process of renovating the accesses to the museum to create an outdoor discovery itinerary for studying the operation of a hydraulic installation: from the source of the watercourse to the activation of its wooden looms (rehabilitation of reaches and levees).
