Installed on the site of a former water-powered factory, Effets Passementeries is one of the rare companies that perpetuate the traditions of the region thanks to the highly specialised skills it retains, which furthermore delight couturiers, its main customers. With over 14,000 catalogue items, this company is notable for its responsiveness and the quality of the pieces produced. The guided tour starts in the courtyard and covers each of the various storeys, each dedicated to a precise task.
This company wants to contribute to promoting this traditional activity and the local identity. By opening its doors to the public, it offers a glimpse of how the spinning trade has evolved over the years. To preserve this hydraulic heritage is also a priority when it has converted part of the buildings into houses, giving them a new lease of life
Guided tour of the company for groups (min. 6 people, max. 20 people). Booking required all year round except from 23 July to 23 August and between Christmas and New Year's day. A shop selling passementerie accessories is open from Monday to Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Dorlay Valley, marked by numerous hydraulic relics and the Dorlay dam; Lace and Braid Museum in La Terrasse-sur-Dorlay: traditional Pilat skills linked with the use of hydraulic force.
