Monts d'Ardèche Regional Natural Park
The Park in action Monts d'Ardèche Regional Natural Park
Every year, the team working in the Monts d'Ardèche Park performs around sixty actions in the region. These actions are varied, but always carried out in accordance with the founding Charter of the Park, aiming to ensure sustainable development of the territory. Below are a few examples of current major actions, as well as more local processes that can illustrate the field missions of the policy officers.
A Park centre
In 2009, the future Park centre will open to the public. It is being set up in Jaujac, in an ancient castle, the Domaine de Rochemure. Entirely renovated according to High Environmental Quality standards, the Park centre will house the administration offices, a documentation centre, a tourist information centre, a scenographic space, and so on, and the Domaine will be fully adapted as an example of the wealth of the Park. The Park brand
Eight farmers have been authorised to use the "Park Product" mark. In addition to them, 45 accommodation owners display the "Welcome to the Park" mark and guided tour operators in the region will also soon be marked. The process to recognise professionals makes it possible to identify players involved in a process of sustainable development, product quality, reception, etc. For the general public, it is a guarantee that the true spirit of the Park can be found in all these professionals.
Climb dry stone terraces
Climbing a dry stone wall is a true art! But it is an art that can be learned and which must be transmitted in order to guarantee the survival of the terraces in the Monts d'Ardèche. Due to the disappearance of terraces, which are increasingly abandoned and result in the closure of landscapes, the Park has wanted to develop the learning of this skill together with its partner associations. For this reason, courses are organised for public workers as well as for private individuals. The success of these "dry stone" courses is a positive sign for the future of our landscapes.
