The Cultural Agency of Morvan Regional Natural Park, a tool for the cultural development tool of the region

The implementation of the Leader+ community initiative programme in 2002 allowed the development of a cultural centre of the Regional Natural Park and the creation of a Cultural Agency.
This resource centre, unusual in a rural region, works in the entire field of culture by means of two closely interrelated missions: implementing the cultural strategy of Morvan Park and organising and managing the Morvan Leader+ programme.

The Agency has identified many issues:

  • to become a tool for social cohesion;
  • to promote cultural and artistic opening of the region;
  • to become a leading player in a unifying and structuring project;
  • to be at once the depository of a collective memory and a player in renewing the representations that may exist of this territory.

After five years of existence, in connection with the organisation and management of the Leader+ programme, the Agency has undertaken many actions and collaborations with players such as the "Margot Cafés", organising the eco-museum network, creating an architectural watchdog centre, groups such as "Morvan, land of festivals", "Scenes in Morvan", "Junctions", "Museums outside the walls", etc.

The Agency also provides a space of resources and an interface for artistic and cultural players, regardless of whether or not they are from the region.

Its intervention allows it to be recognised today as a necessary tool for players working for the region.
