Morvan Regional Natural Park
Landscapes Morvan Regional Natural Park
The landscapes, due to their diversity and quality, are the main attraction of the Morvan, both for the residents of the area and for the tourists that come to visit it. This diversity of landscapes is due to the size of the region, as well as to a more or less rugged relief and the influence of the climate (continental, mountainous and Atlantic). This combination of relief and climates has led humans to adapt their form of life and their activities, changing the environment in which they live to optimise their comfort and rationalise the efforts made to maintain the vitality of local life.
Changes in human activities and technology, in particular since the development of the consumer society associated with the dawn of industrialisation, has brought about a change in the practices and actions that maintain the landscape.
The landscapes of the Morvan have therefore been modified at a faster or slower rate according to the development of society. They cannot be frozen in time, but their development must be assisted to ensure the permanence of this rich landscape.
However, perception of the Morvan landscapes remains subjective and specific to each individual. There is no uniform, universal view of landscapes. People have their own interpretations of the landscape surrounding them, and their own expectations as regards landscape quality. This results in an educational need to ensure correct understanding of landscapes and their treasures and to combine different points of view in order to produce common projects.
