The Magazine

The magazine of the Natural Parks of the Massif Central presents each Park following a transversal, original theme. In this way, it deals with the links between heritage sites and the major issues relating to sustainable development. Each Park then develops each theme as an "Itinerary".

The Massif-central

As large as Ireland or Portugal, the Massif Central is an inhabited mountainous region in the heart of Europe, and very easy to access. Extending across 15% of the French national territory, the Massif Central makes up 42% of the mountainous area of France, with a high average altitude and high plateaus. Across almost 80,000 km², is offers landscapes including valleys and highlands, dry farming areas and wet prairies, a rich heritage of natural habitats, exceptional plant and animal species.

An inhabited mountain region, firmly committed to the future, the history of the people who have built this land has left many unusual traces that the Natural Parks hope to help you discover.

The Natural Parks of the Massif Central form a geographic area. Between the 10, they make up a continuous geographical unit of more than 8,400 Km² (Regional Natural Parks of Monts d'Ardèche, Grands Causses, Haut-Languedoc and Cévennes National Park).
